FAQs

Who can play?
Any boy or girl between the ages of 5 and 14. Children aged 4 years are welcome to play as long as they will be turning 5 sometime during 2020

How much does it cost?
$50 for children playing grades Under 6 to Under 8. $60 for children playing grades under 9 to under 13. Families of 2 or more, $100.

What do I need to bring to register?
Any new players will need to bring a copy of their birth certificate or passport with them to registration. Returning players just bring yourselves!

When can I register?
Every Thursday night from Feb 20th 2020 between 5.30pm until 7.00 pm. Muster day (28 March) 10:30am registrations will be taken from 11am. All registrations and Muster are held at MRFC clubrooms, Mountfort Park, Dr Pickering Ave, Manurewa.

Where is the muster/registrations held?
At the MRFC clubrooms, Mountfort Park, Dr. Pickering Ave, Manurewa.

Who does the coaching?
Volunteer parents are the coaches. Be sure to tick the coach/manager box on the registration form if you are interested in volunteering to help your child’s team. Full training will be provided.

What gear will I need?
All players will need to provide a pair of boots for themselves. Mouthguards and team uniforms will be supplied by the club. Please note that all uniforms must be returned at the end of the season.

What happens after registration?
All players will meet at the MRFC clubrooms on Muster Day (28th March at 10:30am) where they will meet their coach, manager and teammates. Practice times will also be organised at Muster.

What team will my child be playing in?
All children will be allocated to teams based on their age and weight (Under 9 – Under 14 only). If you wish your child to be put in the same team as another child of the same age, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

What are the grades?
Under 6 and Under 7: 7 per side, Rippa Rugby, played on a half field.
Under 8: 10 per side, tackle rugby, played on a half field.
Under 9 and Under 10: 10 per side, tackle rugby, played on a half field, open and restricted weight grades.
Under 11: 15 per side, tackle rugby, played on a full field, open and restricted weight grades.
